Bangalore, Nov 16: Karnataka Legislative Assembly Speaker Jagadish Shettar, who is tipped to join the Yeddyurappa cabinet tomorrow resigned from the speaker's post on Monday.
Shettar, accompanied by Tourism Minister Janardhana Reddy and others went to the office of Assembly Deputy Speaker K G Bopanna and submitted his resignation letter.
Bopanna, who received the letter from Shettar immediately accepted it.
Later, speaking to newspersons, Shettar said he had tendered his resignation as per the directive of party high command and would join the Karntaka ministry tomorrow.
Expressing satisfaction over discharging his duty as Speaker for more than 18 months, Shettar thanked all the members of the State Assembly, including Opposition leaders and other floor leaders of the House.
