Mangaluru: LMCN celebrates 'Graduation Day ceremony cum Annual Day'

Mangaluru, Mar 11: The Graduation Day ceremony and Annual Day celebration of Laxmi Memorial College of Nursing were held on March 10 at 4.30 pm at AJ ground. The chief guest of the day was Dr K Ramu dean-faculty of Nursing, RGUHS, principal R R College of Nursing, Bengaluru. The graduation ceremony is a pageant celebrating the transition from student to graduate which marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter in their life. Around 165 graduates, guests and other invitees brought a grandiose atmosphere to the programme. The Ceremony began with the 'Graduates March' followed by the dignitaries and HoD’s of various specialties.

The program commenced with an invocation dance by the fourth year BSc Nursing students. Shalini Fernandes convener of the programme welcomed the gathering followed by which the esteemed dignitaries lighted the lamp. The principal Dr Larissa Martha Sams, outlined the annual college report. Dr K Ramu conferred the candidates with medals and certificates. Dr Theresa Mathias, recited the ceremonial pledge and the students recapitulated it, committing themselves to the noble profession. The chief guest Dr K Ramu dean-faculty of Nursing, RGUHS, Bengaluru, congratulated the graduates and enlightened that nurses are true ambassadors of this institution to alleviate suffering, inspire, and innovate their service through integrity, compassion and loyalty.

The college Magazine of LMCN, 'EPIPHANY 2019-20' was ceremoniously released in a function. Sofia Riyana, SNA advisor anecdotes the SNA activities of the year 2019-20. Proficiency prizes were presented to the rank holders and college toppers by chief guest Dr K Ramu. For the students who excelled in cultural events and sports, Prashanth Shetty vice-president LMET presented the prizes. Sandra James Punnoose, former student spouted on behalf of all the graduated students. Following this, Prashanth Shetty delivered the presidential address and highlighted that the management is providing infrastructure to improve the quality of patient care and wished all the graduates, toppers and prize winners. Dr Theresa L Mendonca vice-principal was present on this occasion.

The formal programme came to an end with the vote of thanks by Dr Jenifer D’Souza. The students performed a mind-blowing mirthful cultural programme. The programme was compered by Sharmila D’Souza and Shilpa.
