Mysuru, Mar 9: Former chief minister H D Kumaraswamy has taken agriculture minister of the state B C Patil to task with regards to the waiver of loans of farmers. Patil had said in the assembly that due to issue in records provided by some farmers, their loans could not be waived.
Speaking to the press in the city, Kumaraswamy said, "It seems that the agricultural minister Patil does not have proper information concerning the loan waiver of farmers. I have accrued Rs 25,000 crore for waiver of loans of farmers before resigning. Out of this, the present BJP government has not released Rs 800 crore."
Reacting to the statement of minister Patil that the loans of some farmers are not waived as they did not provide proper documents, Kumaraswamy said, "We had asked simple records from the farmers while waiving off their loans. If the records provided by the farmers is not correct, it is the responsibility of the respective department to set it right. No need of lying in these matters just to avoid the situation."
Responding to the cancellation of Shaadi Bhagya scheme by BJP government, the former CM said, "Not only Shaadi Bhagya, but the BJP government has also completely stalled the development of the state of Karnataka. In Belagavi BJP MLA himself has created ruckus that grant is not allotted for his constituency. The BJP MLAs themselves are accusing CM Yediyurappa that the concerned officials have not released funds for flood-affected families, though he has given them orders to distribute the same. This is the reality of today's BJP government."
