Mangalore, Nov 12: The staff and students of K S Hegde Medical Academy (KSHEMA) observed National Educaiton Day on Wednesday November 11, in memory of the country’s first education minister, Moulana Azad. A special debate, seminar and interactive session, was held on the occasion by the Students Association of the college, led by Abheesh Hegde and the medical education unit.
KSHEMA dean, Dr Arunachalam Kumar, welcomed the gathering. The proceedings were inaugurated by the ceremonial lighting of a lamp. Swetha Rao introduced the topic. Dr C R Ballal, professor emeritus (surgery), was the moderator and judge for the face off debate on ‘Medical Education at Crossroads’.
Aditi Mishra was adjudged the ‘best competitor’, while Karkala Prashant won the best ‘rebutter’award. Dr D K Shetty, professor emeritus (OBG), and Dr Prakash, head of the department, general medicine, gave away the prizes and Dr Sukanya Shetty, staff advisor, distributed participation certificates. The head of the medical education unit, Dr Vijaya Shenoy, proposed vote of thanks.
