Udupi, Mar 7: Udyavar St Francis Xavier church and Indian Catholic Youth Movement (ICYM) Udyavar golden jubilee festival committee felicitated fisherwomen in the Udupi fish market and celebrated world women’s day in a special way on Saturday, March 7.

Older fisherwomen Baby Salian Kodavoor, Lalitha Ameen Padukere, Sumathi Bangera Pitrodi and more than 100 women working in the fish market were honoured.

Member of municipal council, Udupi, Amrata Krishnamurthy, social worker Amrith Shenoy and Udupi taluk hasi meenu maaraatagarara sangha president Baby H Salian spoke. Golden jubilee festival committee president Michael D’ Souza gave an introduction.

Parish pastoral council vice president Melwyn Noronha, ICYM president Royal Castelino, committee director Eric Menezes, Terrance Pereira, Jerald Pereira, Ronald D’ Souza, Lena Mendonca and others were present. Committee convener Steven Colaco compered the programme.
