Karkala, Mar 7: A man has filed complaint in the town police station here, accusing a doctor at the government hospital of medical negligence, and seeking action.

The complainant happens to be Sathish Acharya from Mundkoor. He has charged the doctor of causing the death of his sister Yogitha, out of negligence.

Yogitha had been admitted into the government hospital here for delivery on February 22. Doctor at the hospital, Dr Afsar Hul Huda, reportedly said that the cervix had opened up, and prescribed certain medicines. On February 24, delivery was performed by Dr Afsar by way of surgical procedure. After the surgery, Yogitha developed health complications. Therefore, she was taken to Mangaluru. At the advice of doctors there, she was admitted into the Wenlock Hospital but Yogitha breathed her last on March 5.

Sathish strongly believes that his sister died because of negligence on the part of the doctor concerned. The police, who have registered the case, are investigating.
