Moodbidri: Lorry knocks down scooter - Senior citizen killed

Moodbidri, Mar 6: After a lorry carrying poultry birds hit a scooter that was moving on ring road here, a person lost his life. Madhava Shenoy (63), a businessman associated with M/s G Sridhar Shenoy and Sons here, was killed in the accident. The accident had happened late night on Wednesday.

Madhava Shenoy was running a business in the town along with his two brothers. He was going to his home located by the side of the ring road that passes through Swarajya Maidan and swimming pool, when a lorry which came from behind, knocked him down. Shenoy suffered serious injuries in the accident. He was admitted into a private hospital but he breathed his last late in the night.

The local police have registered a case against lorry driver, Vijayan T N, and investigation has begun. The deceased is survived by wife and brothers.

The ring road here has often been in the eye of the storm because of its inconvenient design. A local had filed a complaint about the inadequate ring road even at the Lokaykukta Adalat and the Lokayukta had directed the officials concerned to address the issue, but nothing has moved since.
