Sahyadri students win big at two-day Agritech Hackathon

Kasargod, Mar 5: Sahyadrians win at Rural India Business Conclave and Agritech Hackathon organized by ICAR-CPCRI, Kasargod, Kerala.

Dhanush Shettigar, Harshith Kumar, Pushparaj A, and Ramkishor K, interns at DTIlabz and students of Electronics and Communication Engineering, participated in Rural India Business Conclave and Agritech Hackathon organized by ICAR- Central Plantation Crops Research Institute (CPCRI), Kasargod along with Kerala Startup Mission held during February 29 to March 1 at CPCRI, Kasargod, Kerala.

Sahyadri College won the first place and cash prize of Rs 50,000. The two-day Hackathon was mainly focused on solving the problems in the agriculture sector. The challenge was to provide irrigation to each component crop in the required ratio. The IOT solution developed by the students is applicable for the existing system and it can also provide water for the entire field as per crop requirement and time. With internet-enabled, it also makes the system completely automated and the monitoring could be done using a mobile application.

The participants also proposed a solution to find the percentage of nutrients present in the
agriculture land using a portable device.
