Kaup, Mar 2: In an accident which happened at around 11 pm on Saturday, February 29, opposite S S Bar near Nagaraja Estate, Padubidri, a man from Padubidri lost his life. The deceased was Devendra Kotian (34), resident of Paduhithlu in Padubidri.

It is learnt that Jagadish, a local, who was in his two-wheeler with his two children, bought Beeda from a shop near the said bar. He then suddenly proceeded to move towards Hejamady in his two-wheeler on the wrong side of the road. His vehicle then collided with the other two-wheeler of Devendra that was approaching the spot from the direction of Udupi on the left side of the highway.

Devendra, who suffered serious injuries, was taken to a private hospital at Udupi. But he had lost his life before reaching the hospital.

Deendra Kotian used to operate a Chinese fast food joint in his petty shop on Karkala Road, Padubidri. He had closed down his shop and was moving to his home when the accident happened. He is survived by wife and a daughter.

A case in this connection was registered in Padubidri police station. The body was handed over to relatives after post-mortem.
