Bengaluru: Small screen actress files rape complaint

Bengaluru, Mar 2: A small screen actress has accused a film producer of raping her after promising to provide her opportunities to act in silver screen.

On the basis of complaint made by the actress, who is a resident of Hebbal here and aged 26, police personnel of Amruthahalli station here have registered a case of rape against Sangamesh Patil from Hyderabad. Investigation in this regard is on.

The complainant has been active in television serials since 2013. It is said that accused called her over phone, introduced himself as a producer, and promised to provide her good opportunities in cinema. When she met him, she said, he behaved indecently with her. A few days later, he called her again, and asked her to come to Hyderabad. He also promised to cast her as heroine in film.

The actress says that after she reached Hyderabad, the producer served her juice containing intoxicants and then raped her. It is said that later, he consoled her and sent her back to Bengaluru.
