Puttur, Nov 7: On being produced in the court in relation to the body warrant issued for his production in the murder case of Sharada (27) from Permoagaru in Kedila village, serial killer Mohan Kumar was produced in the local court on Friday November 6. He was remanded to police custody till November 10. Hundreds of people, whose curiosity had been fuelled by the gory details of the murders committed by Mohan, had gathered to have a glimpse of the serial killer, at the court premises.
As the old building of the town police station does not have lockup facility as of now, he was lodged in the lockup of the new building of the police station, which is yet to be inaugurated. With this, Mohan earned the dubious distinction of being the first accused to be lodged in the new lock up.
In the meantime, the state Corps of Detectives (COD) team, to which the government has handed over the investigation relating to cases of serial killings, will arrive in Mangalore on November 9. Initially, their investigations will cover 15 out of the 20 murder cases, relating to people of Dakshina Kannada origin.
