Mangalore, Nov 7: The major demolition drive by the district administration against encroachments along the seashore which violate the coastal regulation zone continued into the second day with two constructions bulldozed at Sasihitlu near Mukka, on Friday November 6.
The demolition drive was lead by assistant commissioner Prabhulinga Kavalakatti under directions from deputy commissioner (DC) V Ponnuraj.
The two demolished houses were used as resorts. The original owners of the property had sold it to some other persons.
Kavalakatti said that the constructions violated the norms of coastal regulatory zone rules and notices were served to the actual owners of the constructions, but the constructions were not removed, and the district administration took appropriate measures.
“Ten structures were on the list and owners of some of these properties have gone to court. After obtaining orders from the court, the district administration will take necessary action”, he said.
Police protection was provided for the drive. DC Ponnuraj and Tahsildar Ravichandra Nayak also visited the spot.
