Moodbidri, Nov 5: The annual feast of St Martin De Porres, Belvai, near here, was celebrated with reverence on Wednesday November 4.
Deanery vicar Fr Austin Peres conducted the festal Eucharistic celebrations along with parish priest Fr Richard Saldanha and other priests from neighbouring parishes here on Wednesday November 4.
Fr Peres, in his homily, put forth the life of patron St Martin De Porres which exemplified solidarity, charity, and piety, which helped him work for the poor in order to bring them to Christ.
The liturgy led by parish leaders enabled the laity to participate in the Lord’s meal. The choral singing of the parish choir added fervour to the feast with its spiritual experience.
The ‘rangoli’ drawn by the youth parishioners of ICYM unit with flower petals and stalls put up by them also brought smiles on the faces of the young and the old.
The altar was decorated under the leadership of Alroy Serrao and the sisters of the convent.
People from neighbouring villages, regardless of caste, creed, and religion also shared in the festivities at the parish as a mark of communal harmony.
