Mangalore, Nov 4: Excise department and excise enforcement and lottery prevention wing officials arrested two persons and seized nearly Rs 1 lac worth illicit liquor along with raw materials use for liquor manufacture in separate raids on Tuesday November 4.
The excise department officials headed by N M Hussain, deputy commissioner of excise raided three units near Adam Kudru near Jeppinamogaru here and seized Rs 3, 500 litres of fermented concoction and 100 kgs of jaggery. The total worth of goods is estimated at Rs 50,000. The fermented concoction was destroyed by emptying it to the river near Adam Kudru.
In another raid conducted by Excise enforcement and lottery prevention wing inspector B G Achar and his team two persons were arrested and seized Rs 78,005 worth liquor transported from Goa. The arrested have been identified as T K Hasim (49) and K P Abdul Razak (46), both residents of Hosadurga taluk in Kasargod district.
The arrested were transporting liquor manufactured in Goa illegally through train to Kerala. The investigation is on under the guidance of deputy superintendent of the department J Papaiah.
