Karkala: Indian tourists spending money abroad is loss for us – Minister C T Ravi

Daijiworld Media Network – Karkala (HB/EP)

Karkala, Feb 22: “We have sufficient number of tourist spots. There are several casinos in America. Many people from Karnataka go abroad for tourism. Singapore and Sri Lanka have become popular due to casinos. I have not said that we too should open a casino center, but how tourism has improved abroad. I have explained the reality in America. Planning is the work of the government. Our money flows to foreign tourist spots,” said minister of tourism, C T Ravi.

“Groups of Indian tourists can be seen in Sri Lanka and Las Vegas. Our tourists pouring money abroad is a loss for our country. We cannot stop people from going abroad, but we need to develop tourist spots and create jobs here."

He expressed anguish about slogan shouting in favour of Pakistan by some people. “There is punishment and pardon for everything else, but there is no pardon for sedition. Therefore, nobody should ask for forgiveness. Such a mentality is very dangerous. Why should our soldiers be victims of bullets? Why should they guard the country at minus 20 degrees in the Himalayas? To whom are those who are saying Pakistan zindabad born? Do you praise the enemy eating the food here? Such attitude is dangerous. There is a group behind Amulya. Amulya has made it public. We have considered the incident, very seriously."

Excise minister, H Nagesh in response to the question 'if Nira shop will be opened in Bengaluru city' said that he has no knowledge about it. “I will gather details and inform about it in Bengaluru. It is approved without informing me. I do not know if it was real. There will be a progress review meeting in Bengaluru on Tuesday. I will discuss the matter there. It is not right to give my opinion as the proposal has not come to me. I do not want to comment as no department has brought it to my notice,” he said.

Before asking why tourists spend money in foreign country instead of in India ,one should hold his nose and see what is available by our touristic centrum. How fair sind we are against tourists. What good facilities ,how much security is available to them against rape, high taxi fair and wherever tourists go meals or buy souvegniers to a hot price, all these things should be considered.Touristic dept .is not at all interested to attract them.Moral police make even locals life hell, and why ask tourists to come.Since long I noticed ,not even a scenery card was and still today available from mangalore. Then how can one know what is there in mangalore or around?Lets speak the truth .to see our kachra besides roads all over no need of tourists.we should not sell ourselves.Handbag snatching chain snatchers when one up instead ht ,police too are not helpful instead they dont even take the case .And he speaks of tourists not coming.

Exactly! This fellow has no idea what is tourism! Do we have any great beaches and any star hotels facing the sea at least in our coastal region??? He should send some moral polices and beedees abroad so that they learn basic behavior and communal harmoney, koopa mandookas learn etiquette and manners!
Keep our tourists places free from moral polices and there is a chance that local tourism may improve!

This guy has no idea what tourism is all about..!!!
Comunalism, moral policing, hatred towards people of other religion will make India worse place for global tourists.
The same culture prevailing in India, is forcing "monied" Indians to find peace, pleasure and enlightenment which is the core idea of Global tourism.
India having so much potential for tourism has achieved pretty little due to the narrow mentality of politicians, policy makers etc.
    Jai Hind!!!!

This man should go abroad to see why people go abroad to widen his horizon . I t might help him to get rid of his frog in the well mentality. Incidentally many governments have travel advisories to their citizens about safety of travel in India.
