Udupi, Nov 1: The meeting of Save National Highway Action Committee was held at the Hotel Sharada International Hall here on Saturday October 31.
The committee held discussion on the repairs of the National Highway (NH) 17. At the meeting, Jnana Vasant Shetty requested the committee heads that the need of the hour was speedy and quality repairs of the NH stretch, while the delay in fourlaning of the stretch was not an issue of immediate concern. Ramdas Nayak stressed that express highway construction was the solution for the badly maintained NH roads.
The committee on Thursday October 29 had met union law minister M Veerappa Moily along with Karkala MLA Gopal Bhandary and former minister Jayaprakash Hegde and requested the repairs of stretch from 10 kms to 17.5 kms, 250 kms to 256 kms, 268 kms to 271 kms, 281 kms to 288 kms, 302 kms to 315 kms and 341 kms to 352 kms.
Committee convenor Govindaraj Hegde, Ramesh Kotian and Nityananda Volakaadu among others were present at the meet.
