Udupi: CCTV cameras, GPS, vigilance squads to avert PU exam irregularities

Udupi, Feb 21: "Second PU examinations will be conducted from March 4 to 23. For averting examination irregularities, CCTV cameras have been installed in all the e examination centres and also in the district treasury where the question papers will be stored," said additional deputy commissioner, Sadashiva Prabhu.

He was speaking after presiding over preparatory meeting relating to second PU examination organized at the office of the deputy commissioner here on Thursday February 20.

"Examination will take place in 27 examination centres in the district. 15,100 students will appear for the examinations, and eight teams which have tahsildars from the district, block education officers, and officers in the department of education in them have been formed for distributing question papers. As question papers are stored only at the district treasury, tahsildars, education coordinators, route officers, question paper transportation vehicles and police personnel should be ready at the district treasury on time to collect and distribute question papers," he explained.

Prabhu stated that bio-metric attendance and barcode readers have been fitted in the district treasury, and postal officials have been instructed to safely deliver answer sheets after the examinations. Vigilance squads led by senior principals have been appointed for undertaking surprise visits to examination centres, he added.

He also stated that control room in the office of the deputy commissioner to watch CCTV footage in and out of the district treasury will be functional round the clock till the end of the examinations. Vehicles carrying question papers have been fitted with GPS and it will be ensured that the question papers with police escort reach examination centres as per the time schedule, he explained.
