Mangalore, Oct 31: Apparently buoyed by the positive impact made by the harmony meet of various religious leaders held at Hotel Gateway here on Thursday October 29, Chairman of State Minority Commission, Khusro Qureshi, said that more such meets will be organized at different parts of the state, by involving leaders of different religions.
Addressing a press conference in the city on Friday October 30, Qureshi said that the harmony meet held at Hotel Gateway on Thursday, where leaders of different religions could sit together and talk freely on issues like cow slaughter, religious conversions, Love Jehad, terrorism, unemployment etc., was very affective. Terming the meet as highly successful, he said that such meetings will soon be held in centres like Karwar, Bhatkal and Mysore.
“Discussions were on since about six months about the prospects of holding such a get-together of religious leaders. We also were worried a bit as to what would transpire out of such a meet. But we are relieved and happy that leaders of different Muslim groups, Christains and Hindus came together and held meaningful discussions,” he explained.
Qureshi opined that with one-to-one dialogues and mutual discussions, wrong notions about one another get cleared. “We will take decisions to solve the genuine problems that are found during the discussions,” he assured.
BJP Minority Morcha president Rahim Ucchil and BJP district general secretary, Srikar Prabhu, were present.
