Puttur: Thieves target shops at Uppinangady town

Puttur, Feb 20: Unknown thieves raided five shops in the town in the early hours of Wednesday February 19. They failed to force open doors of four shops but tasted success in the case of a fruit shop where they took away Rs. 5,000.

Telltale signs of attempt to force open the shutters and doors with a rod were visible in case of Ganesh Fancy and Xerox shop, Kailar Medicals, Paduka Footwear and a newspaper stall. The fruits shop, Indian Fruit Centre in Uppinangady bus stand was opened by breaking the bolt. The thieves took home Rs 5,000 worth of coins kept inside and also two family packs of ice cream kept inside the freezer, shop owner Muhammed Ali, told the police.
