Puttur, Oct 31: Usman Zohri, Khateeb of Punacha Periyaltadka mosque, expressed the apprehension that a few members of the local unit of Karnataka Forum for Dignity (KFD), who had assaulted him earlier in response to some advises he had given in his discourse, are likely to physically assault him again. He sought protection against further attacks, speaking to media men here on Friday October 30.
Zohri said, he was targetted by some youths for speaking against 'Love Jehad', which is against Islamic principles. As it is his duty to keep the people informed of what is right and what is wrong as per the religious tenets, he said, he had expressed his opposition to the concept of 'Love Jehad'.
"About two months ago, some KFD activists came to my room and posed threats to me. I was assaulted on October 26, in the guise of the day's namaz having been performed with a five-minute delay. Even though I have filed a complaint with the Vittal police against the accused Qamaruddin and others, they have so far, not been arrested," he said.
