Mangaluru: Mother Josephine Memorial Lecture 2020 held at St Ann’s College of Education

Mangaluru, Feb 19: On the occasion of the Annual General Body Meeting of the Alumnae Association of St Ann’s College of Education (Autonomous), here, Mother Josephine Memorial Lecture 2020 was held on February 15 at the college conference hall.

Dr Anil Ramachandran, Associate Professor and Head of the Department, School of Physical Education and Sports Sciences, Kannur University, Kerala as well as chief guest delivered a lecture on the topic 'The Art and Science of Mentoring'.

The speaker began by quoting great examples given by the Developmental Psychologist Elizabeth Hurlock. He spoke on the inner self as to how it elevates the person to a higher level. A teacher needs to identify the uniqueness of a child and then make the child interdependent. One needs to be a lifelong learner, solve problems that have not been anticipated and thus make students realize the eagle in them. A good number of the audience interacted with the speaker during the open discussion thereby enriching the lecture. In conclusion, the speaker ended his talk by suggesting the skills and means for future education.



Sr Zeena, AC, the president of the Alumnae Association welcomed and introduced the chief guest. A total of two hundred and fifty alumnae were present.

Dimple Mendonca, Graduate Assistant, St Agnes High School, Mangaluru and alumnae, proposed the vote of thanks. Flavia Sequiera, alumnae compered the programme. Dr Rose Kiran Pinto, Assistant Professor and Secretary of the Alumnae Association organized the programme.

Sr Shubha AC, Educational Secretary of the Apostolic Carmel Educational Society, Sr Maria Kripa AC, Local Superior, St Ann’s Institutions and former officio of the Alumnae Association were present.
