Udupi, Oct 28: “A photography exhibition of the devastating after-effects of the recent floods across Northern Karnataka is necessary to create a realization in people’s minds about the plight of the flood victims and give rise among them, a desire to contribute towards rebuilding the lives of the victims,” said MLA, K Raghupati Bhat.
Bhat was speaking, after inaugurating a photography exhibition of the recent floods that hit North Karnataka, and the measures undertaken by the state government to restore normalcy. The photography exhibition was jointly organized by the district information department, district administration and the town municipal council. The exhibition was held in front of municipal building here, on Wednesday October 28.
The MLA said further, that so far, a sum of two crore rupees had been collected towards CM’s flood relief fund from across the district from the general public. He said that the government officials will have to do their work honestly in ensuring that the donations and aid reach the genuine victims.
He also urged all those who wish to contribute their mite in this regard, to hand over their contributions and collections to the district deputy(DC) commissioner, Hemalata.
Local municipal president Dinakar Shetty, DC Hemalata, municipal commissioner, Gokuldas Naik, and block education officer, Manjunathaiah, were present on the occasion.
District information officer, M Junjanna, welcomed the gathering. Artist Ganesh Gangolli compered the programme.
