Mangalore, Oct 26: A thanksgiving Mass was offered to Blessed Jeanne Jugan, founder of the congregation of the Little Sisters of the Poor, by Bishop Aloysius Paul D’Souza on Sunday October 25 at St Sebastian Church.
The Mass was organized to mark her canonization by Pope Benedict XVI on Saturday October 11.
The Bishop offered the solemn concelebrated Mass in the presence of vicar general Monsignor Dennis Moras Prabhu, parish priest Peter Noronha, and others.
He praised the great work done by Blessed Jeanne Jugan for society and her commitment to messages of God, and in serving humanity.
A short programme narrating the life of Blessed Jeanne Jugan and an exhibition was also inaugurated at St Agnes College auditorium. The programme marked the glad moments of her canonization.
Little Sisters of the Poor and all the residents of the home had organized the programme.
