Kundapur: Racket involved with civet cat trafficking unearthed

Kundapur, Feb 13: Forest mobile squad from Puttur in Dakshina Kannada district has been able to detect a gang involved with the trafficking of the civet cat, which is an endangered animal. The gang operating from Goliangadi in the taluk was arrested by the squad.

The arrested persons are Asgar Ali (22), resident of West Block Road Kundapur and Sharath (23) from Bidkalkatte village. Besides the civet, a cage, Maruti Eeco car, and cellphone have been seized from their possession.

During the raid, one of the accused succeeded in fleeing. The operation was conducted by forest mobile squad sub-inspector, Jaya K, and other staff. The case has since been handed over to range forest officer at Shankaranarayana for further investigation.
