Mangaluru, Feb 11: Sixth day novena in preparation for the feast of Relic of St Anthony was held at St Antonys Ashram, Jeppu on Tuesday, February 11.
Fr Peter Gonsalves, the parish priest of St John Mary Vianny Church Bambil, celebrated the Holy Mass on the sixth day of the novena.
In his homily Fr Gonsalves preached on the need of taking care of sick people. Ailing people suffer in various fronts. They suffer physically, socially and also the paucity of funds. At times after exhausting all means they remain helpless. For such people there is a hope. And the hope is Jesus. The Son of God when He became human He touched and healed many. He continues to do so even today through the holy men and women.
St Anthony preached the word of God and healed many people in the name of Jesus. Fr Gonsalves called on the people to pray for the ailing people and also for those who take care of the sick.
Fr Thrishan D’Souza, the assistant director, offered Holy Mass in the after-noon at the ashram. Fr Onil D’Souza, the director of the ashram conducted Rosary and Adoration. Fr Roshan D’Souza, another assistant director of the ashram conducted the novena at 7.30 pm at the entrance gate of the ashram.
Fr Onil D’Souza, the director of the ashram, thanked the Usruline Franciscan Sisters for leading the liturgical singing. Thousands of people participated in the service.
