Mangaluru, Feb 11: Vice chairman of Karnataka State Planning Board, B J Puttaswamy, accused Kumaraswamy-led state government of draining away all the funds of the state government. He charged Kumaraswamy and his brother, H D Revanna for allowing the state's resources to do down the drain through mismanagement.
Reacting to charges of the government treasury having become empty, Puttaswamy, who addressed a press meet in the city on Monday February 10, stated that works were sanctioned during the coalition government without getting approval from the finance department. "As soon as it became clear that he had to give up power, Kumaraswamy went on a spree to sanction various schemes, thus derailing financial discipline. Now they are making unsubstantiated allegations against Yediyurappa," he criticized.
Puttaswamy said that Kumaraswamy had floated tenders for 50 percent projects over and above those for which finance department gave sanctions. In PWD alone, tender was floated for works worth Rs 55,000 crore. Everything was done carelessly, he said. He claimed that Kumaraswamy had flown to Singapore after giving ministerial berths to two people. He thought that Kumaraswamy does not have the right to criticize Yediyurappa.
Puttaswamy said that recommendation will be sent from planning board to transform Coastal Development Authority, Malnad Development Authority and others into autonomous bodies.
