Bengaluru, Feb 11: A serial accident had happened at the Mekhri Circle underpass in the city on Sunday afternoon. After causing the accident, the driver of luxury Lamborghini car had abandoned the car at the spot before fleeing. Now it has been found that the person who caused the accident and left behind the Lamborghini was Mohammed Nalapad, son of legislator from Shanthinagar here, N A Haris.
Sadashivanagar traffic police, who have registered a case, are investigating.
About 18 months ago, Nalapad had violently attacked a youth in a bar and was jailed for 116 days thereafter. On the basis of certain video footage and information, Nalapad was driving the car and he left the car and fled after the accident. But the staff is hesitant in the matter of taking action, it is said.
The car bearing registration No TS 09 UC 0009 had hit a motor bike and an auto rickshaw at the said underpass. Auto driver Suhail, and auto passengers Sabeeha and her six-year-old son, were injured. The first information report says that the car driver was at high speed and reckless and that he fled after the accident. The people had identified Nalapad's cousin Rafi Mohammed Naseer and his body guard Balakrishna, at the spot.
Nalapad however has denied having caused the accident. In WhatsApp messages later, he wondered whether MLA's son cannot cause any accident. Senior police officials say they have the clue that Nalapad was the one who caused the accident, and that action would be taken soon.
No arrests have been made so far and many wonder whether political influence has worked to shield Nalapad.
