Goa: Repeated protests force adjournment of assembly session

Daijiworld Media Network – Goa (EP)

Goa, Feb 7: The opposition commotion in the well of the house on Thursday against the arrest of independent MLA Rohan Khaunte forced adjournment of the assembly as many as four times. No business except the presentation of the budget by the chief minister was possible.

Opposition leader Digambar Kamat termed as undemocratic and irresponsible the arrest of Khaunte while the house was in session. The opposition has said that they will continue the protests.

Kamat has said that the speaker should have considered the statement by Congress MLA Pratapsingh Rane as he was with Khaunte on Wednesday when the incident took place. MLA Khaunte is alleged to have wrongfully restrained BJP spokesperson Premanand Mahambre.
