Bangalore, Oct 19: With the election for the post of the state president of the BJP scheduled to be held during the first week of December, the party has started the exercise of examining the names of different leaders and looking into their credentials to see whether they will fit the bill.
The election was in fact, scheduled to be held in November, and the present incumbent, D V Sadanand Gowda, was to vacate the seat during November. However, as the state is grappling with the flood situation, the election has been postponed by a month. Names of ministers Aravind Limbavali and Vishweshwar Hegde Kageri, MP Prahlad Joshi, former Mysore MP Vijay Shankar, former union minister Dhananjay Kumar etc., are being coined.
Reportedly, the Chief Minister is interested in elevating Aravind Limbavali, higher education minister, to the post, as he belongs to the backward Bovi caste. The party reportedly, wants to see a person from one of the backward castes in the seat, as Sadanand Gowda is from that category.
