A sum of Rs 14 lac has been released for repairing the national highway stretch falling under Udupi division. These funds are being released from the natural calamity fund, as there is pressure from the ministers, MPs and MLAs to undertake emergent repairs of the badly damaged national highway, journey on which gives a nightmarish experience as of now.
At the same time, the Dakshina Kannada district administration is expected to release funds from its natural calamity fund, if the national highway authority fails to do anything to repair the highway, as it also faces lot of pressure from several quarters to undertake the road repairs on its own.
