Mangalore, Oct 17: Kadri Cricketers distributed rice to the poor families and flood victims of north Karnataka region to meaningfully mark the Deepavali celebrations on Saturday October 17.
Speaking at the programme held at Kadri ground here, district in-charge minister Krishna Palemar said that there is a need for youth organizations to involve themselves more and more in the genuine social service activities for upliftment of the society. Youth with their active involvement through such organizations leads them to think about the society and thus become a role model, he said and added that society will not work without the functioning of such organizations, which works as an alternative government by providing help to people in emergent needs.
The guests including Palemar distributed five kgs of rice to each of the 335 families. The organization also donated 1000 kgs of rice to TV9 relief fund to help the flood victims.
A G Pai, chief operations officer of the Mangalore Special Economic Zone, Suresh Ballal, former chairman of Mangalore Urban Development Authority, Niranjana Raje Aras, police inspector in Mangalore East circle, Sharan Pumpwell, Convenor of Bajrang Dal and Manohar Shetty, president of Kadri cricketers were present.
