Mangalore, Oct 15: Karmika Sene members of the Sri Rama Sena ended their agitation against the Employees State Insurance (ESI) Hospital at Shivabagh on Thursday October 15, the third day of protests.
The protest was withdrawn following assurances from the hospital authorities that their demands would be fulfilled soon.
The Karmika Sene members had started the indefinite protest against the shortage of medical and other staff as well as poor maintenance of the hospital.
Suddattha Jain, president, Karmika Sene, said that the medical officer in charge of the hospital had assured them that their demands will be soon met.
Four members shaved their head on the morning of the third day at the venue of the protest in front of the hospital.
About 30 activists participated in the indefinite fast which started on Tuesday October 13. Three protestors were hospitalized after 24 hours of fasting.
The protest ended after the assurance by the officer at noon on Thursday.
