Udupi: Mumbai - Karwar Train to be Extended till Mangalore?

Udupi, Oct 14: President of the Railway Yatri Sangh here, R L Dias, has informed that Konkan Railway Corporation’s chief operations manager, K L Deekshit, has informed that steps are being taken to extend the Mumbai CST - Karwar super fast train till Mangalore.

Presently, the train that leaves Mumbai on Wednesdays and Saturdays, reaches Karwar the next day at 1.30 pm. It starts its return journey the same day at 3.30 pm.

The Railways had been approached with a request to extend the train up to Mangalore. At present, the train runs as a special train. In a letter, Konkan Railway Corporation has said that the train will be converted as a permanent train soon and that at that time, it will be extended up to Mangalore, Dias explained.

    This is great news for the Mangaloreans who frequently travel between Mumbai-M'lore. The Matsyagandha express takes 16 hours to reach Mumbai from Mangalore and hope this super fast reduces the hours of journey.

    Its a wonderful move by konkan railway. All the present trains running to LTT Kurla Mumbai are packed to the brim. It was high time we had new trains on this track. And this route is for ever packed with people travelling to mumbai. Kudos to Mr R L Dais for doing a relentless work on konkan Railways
