Mumbai, Jan 31: The fourth 'Customers Meet' of Model Co-operative Bank Ltd for the customers of its Mulund, Thane, Kanjurmarg, Vikhroli, Bhiwandi, Vashi, CBD Belapur and Panvel branches was held on January 30 evening at the Anthurium banquet hall, Hotel Shilpa, Mulund.
The inaugural address was by Albert W D'Souza, chairman of Model Co-op Bank Ltd who spoke on the current banking scenario and the performance of the bank. He showed the audience through power point presentation how the bank has met all the parameters set by RBI for being classified as an FSWM bank (Financially Sound and Well Managed Bank). A noteworthy point in the presentation was that the bank has won 11 awards in the last five years for its overall good performance in the city, district and state level. The bank has been steadily growing over the years with its business and customer base increasing. The branch network has also increased with currently 25 branches (4 new branches – Vikhroli, Panvel, Sakinaka and Goregaon opened in the last 12 months). The bank has also introduced new products and services for the benefit of its customers, the latest being mobile banking which was inaugurated on January 28. This brings banking to the fingertips of the customers in a convenient and secure environment. He traced the origin of Model Co-op Bank Ltd to its roots way back to April 26, 1916 when its parent 'The Mangalorean Catholic Co-operative Credit Society Ltd' was formed. The credit society was later converted to Model Co-op Bank Ltd in 1998. He took the audience along the path of the bank from its inception till date.
William Sequeira, vice-chairman of the bank was the next speaker. He spoke on 'Your money is safe with Model Co-op Bank Ltd'. He gave the audience a glimpse of the professional way in which the bank is managed and how the bank complies with all the requirements and guidelines given by RBI. He also illustrated how the funds received from depositors are prudentially deployed. He reiterated that when funds are deployed, the primary focus is on safety. He said the tag line of the bank was 'Your Development Partner' and that this aptly describes how for the bank the primary focus is on the development of its customers.
An open house session followed the presentations which saw many customers coming forward to share their experiences and offer suggestions. From the feedback of the people who spoke, it was gathered that the customers are appreciative of the friendly, courteous, efficient and professional service that the staff of Model Co-op Bank
Ltd offer.
The customers who came forward included Dr Thomas Mathai, Arun Pinto, Ali Asgar, Sinha Roy, Robert Mathias, Prescilla D’Souza, Oliver Quadros, Godwin Pais, Vilayat Henriques, Fr Nicholas Pereira to name a few.
The interactive session was responded to by the chairman – Albert W D'Souza and the general manager – William D'Souza.
The vote of thanks was given by Lawrence D'Souza – Director, who thanked all the customers for taking time out from their hectic schedules and attending the event. The other directors of Model Co-op Bank Ltd who were present included Paul Nazareth, Benedicta Rebello, Sanjay Shinde and Pius Vas. The event was compered by Zenon D’Cruz, deputy general manager of the bank. Approximately 200 customers of the bank from these branches attended the function and keenly listened to the presentations and also actively participated in the programme.
The earlier meets that were held were at Emerald Hall, Hotel Kohinoor Continental, Andheri (E) (held on January 15) and Celebrity Hall, Payyade International Hotel, Kandivali (W) (held on January 16), Centre Plaza, Mira Rd (E) (held on January 28).
