Puttur, Jan 30: Fire got ignited during in the early hours of Wednesday January 29 in the office of a LPG distribution agency at Uppinangady on national highway 75. Things inside the office were burnt down as a consequence, inflicting heavy loss.
Amulya Gas Agency located near Uppinangady government higher primary school was gutted down. 20 stoves, 200 lighters, and display showroom of various equipment, were charred. Fans and other equipment as well as wires relating to electricity supply were reduced to ashes.
Owner of the firm, Chandappa Moolya, said in a complaint filed in Uppinangady police station, that the loss incurred in the incident is over five lac rupees.
Initially rumours spread that gas cylinder blast had happened. Later some said that smaller cylinders used for auto rickshaws had caught fire. But the owner of the agency, during the visit to the site, said that gas cylinders are not preserved here as it is merely an office. He said that fire was ignited due to short circuit.
