Mangaluru, Jan 29: Dakshina Kannada district Congress president, Harish Kumar, has urged the city police commissioner to file suo moto case against the youngsters who threatened MLA U T Khader.

Addressing the media here on Wednesday January 29, Harish Kumar said, "during the Pro Citizenship Ammendment Act (CAA) rally, a video of some young men threatening MLA, U T Khader, has gone viral in the social media where they can be seen threatening to behead Khader. Those who raise voice against the government policies are being termed as anti nationals. What should we call people who pose death threats?," questioned Harish Kumar.

"I urge city police commissioner to file suo moto case against the youths who threatened MLA U T Khader and to take necessary action against them. If they fail to do so within two weeks from now, the district Congress will stage stir opposite the office of the police commissioner demanding the same," he stated.

He also said, "the Congress has always focused on development works, but BJP is hell bent upon dividing the people, and snatching away their rights. Before giving lessons on patriotism they should learn about patriotism and follow the constitution," he stated.

"BJP claims that there is no problem for the citizens because of the Citizenship Amendment Act, but if the platform had been created to discuss the pros and cons of the act then this situation would not have arisen and it has been left for open discussion of the public. Government’s is in a tearing hurry to implement any act like abrogation of article 370," said Harish Kumar.

When asked about Rajanath Singh saying BJP is with the minorities, Harish Kumar said,” It’s a good thing, but the problem is for the people as they need to spend a year in order to collect their documents which is a big punishment, even during the demonetization this problem was witnessed and this will also be another programme in which people will have to stand in queues," he commented.
