Mumbai, Jan 27: Children’s organization, Chinnara Bimba celebrated its seventeenth anniversary at Bantara Bhavan, Kurla east on Saturday afternoon in association with the director of the Karnataka state government directorate of Kannada and culture. Karkala MLA V Sunil Kumar inaugurated the programme.
Bunts Sangha Mumbai president Padmanabha S Payyade chaired the programme. Entrepreneurs Karunaker M Shetty, J P Shetty, Devadas Suvarna, Bunts Sangha Mumbai ladies wing president Ranjani Sudhakar Hegde, journalist Chandrashekar Palethady, Chinnara Bimba founder Prakash B Bhandary, trustee Renuka P Bhandary, Channara Bimba founder president Pooja P Bhandary and president Naina P Bhandary congratulated the children.
“Chinnara Bimba had started with 50 children 17 years ago. It has visited the houses of 6,000 children now and inculcated culture and values in them. It is unfortunate that we are unable to hear that culture and bhajans in villages. Chinnara Bimba is the strength of society through children. The work of Chinnara Bimba of nurturing culture and transferring it to the next generation is praiseworthy,” said Sunil Kumar.
Several competitions were held as part of the celebrations for the children. Director of Kannada and culture directorate Karnataka, Rangappa, Maharashtra state MLA Dileep B Lande, film actor Daya Shetty, Gurukiran and other elite were present in the evening.
The programme began after prayers by the children from Kandivli camp. Drishya Hegde, Trisha Poojary, Shirshika Shetty, Manmath Shetty, Prateek Shetty, Vaishnavi Shetty introduced the guests. Heads of the various branches presented shawls and mementos to the guests and honoured them. Supriya Udupa, Vikram Patkar, Karnoor Mohan Rai compered the programme. Shreya Shetty rendered the vote of thanks.
