Karwar, Oct 10: Bishop of Karwar, Dr Derek Fernandes, visited the families affected by the recent rains, in and around the town on Friday October 9, and promised to build 100 houses for the most deserving poor people, who have been affected by the recent heavy rains and flood. He distributed food grains to the victims at the gruel centre.
On Thursday October 8, he had explained the plight of the affected people at a meeting of the NGO’s held at Belgaum and sought the help of Caritas India to build 100 houses for the victims in Karwar.
The Karwar Diocesan Development Council (KDDC) will undertake the survey to ascertain the losses suffered by the victims and identify the needy. The representatives of Caritas India and Cross also joined the Bishop and visited the victims of the natural disaster in and around the town.
