Puttur, Oct 8: At the consultative meeting of the devotees held here on Wednesday October 7, it was decided to conduct Brahmakalashotsava of the historically famous Lord Mahalingeshwara Temple here, after seeking permission from the state government, in March next year. The meeting decided that the Brahmakalashotsava should coincide with the proposed gifting of a new chariot by Muttappa Rai from Nettala here.
This ancient temple will be witnessing Brahmakalashotsava after a gap of 60 years. The meeting was organized under the presidentship of Dr M K Prasad Bhandary, in which Udupi-Chikmagalur MP D V Sadanand Gowda and Dakshina Kannada MP Nalin Kumar Kateel participated. Both of them promised to wholeheartedly extend support and assistance for the success of the proposed programme.
Ramajal Brahma Baidarkala Garody managing trustee, Sanjeev Poojary, inaugurated the meeting. MLA Mallika Prasad, municipal president Rajesh Bannur, entrepreneurs Karunkar Rai, Sanjeev Shetty, Santosh Kumar Kayarmajal, Vishwa Hindu Parishat local unit president Dhanyakumar and many other leaders were present. Later, a mass prayer was offered at Lord Mahalingeshwara Temple, invoking the grace of Lord for the proposed event.
