Mangalore, Oct 8: Kasturi Kamalaksha Pai (80), veteran businessman, who had a prolonged association with Canara High School Association that has a history of over a century in running educational institutions, breathed his last at his residence near Collectors Gate in the city on Tuesday October 6.
He is survived by wife, Nalini Pai Kasturi, two sons and two daughters.
Pai had joined his family concern, P V Pai and Co, after securing BSC - DMIT degree in auto engineering from Madras Institute of Technology and undergoing training in the Ford Company in England. He also worked for the group of concerns, Ramakrishna Oil Mills and Great Durbar Beedies.
He had served Canara High School Association in the capacity of treasurer, secretary and president, for 37 long years. He was one of the founder members of the Karnataka Konkani Linguistic Minority Schools Union, and had functioned as the president of Rotary Club.
Holiday had been declared for the educational institutions being run by Canara High School Association, as a mark of respect for the departed soul, on Wednesday October 7.
