Mumbai, Oct 7: Famous builder from Borivli Jayaraj Nagar and well-known figure in religious circles, Sridhar Chandaiah Shetty (56), a native of Kallamundkoor Hariyalaguttu in Dakshina Kannada district, breathed his last at Leelavati Hospital in Bandra here, at about 2.10 am on Wednesday October 7.
Shetty, who had been running Jayaraj Builders at Wazir Naka in Borivli (east) since the last three decades, also managed Sri Mahishamardini temple along with other trustees. He used to organize 'Dharmanema' to demigods Kodamanittaya and Rakteshwari in the metro, thus earning the goodwill and admiration of the Tuluvas living here. He had built a shrine for Sri Kodamanittaya at Sanadagudde of Kallamundkoor Hariyalaguttu in Dakshina Kannada district about six years ago.
Since the last two years, he used to live at the Rock Avenue Enclave, located at Charkop in Kandivli (east) in the city. He is survived by wife, Jayanti Sridhar Shetty, daughter Jayapali, son-in-law Ashok Shetty and son, Jayaraj Shetty.
Various people including Bunts Sangh Mumbai president Aikala Harish Shetty, Karnire Vishwanath Shetty, BJP Mumbai Pradesh president Gopal Shetty, Billavara Association Mumbai president Jaya C Suvarna, vice-president Nityanand D Kotian, founder of Jayashrikrishna Parisara Premi Samiti Tonse Jayakrishna A Shetty and scores of other leaders from the undivided Dakshina Kannada district settled in the metro have condoled Shetty's death.
The funeral of the deceased was performed in the presence of a large number of his dear ones and friends at the graveyard located in Danukarwadi in Kandivli (east) on Wednesday.
