Mangalore, Oct 5: 'Aasare', a day care centre for the senior citizens, set up by Seva Bharati Trust, located at V T Road in the city, was inaugurated on Sunday October 4, by J M Garg, chairman and managing director of the public sector Corporation Bank.
'Seva Bharati', which has been rendering social service and has several service institutions and projects under its belt, has opened this centre, to cater to the needs of the senior citizens, who fail to relate to the modern world and while away their time in an atmosphere of constant neglect, without knowing how to keep themselves busy. Garg, in his inaugural address, said that it is the duty of everyone to extend a helping hand to the people during their old age. Organizations like ‘Aasare’ can play a stellar role in instilling enthusiasm and vitality among the senior citizens and provide them a sense of satisfaction and contentment, he noted.
MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, MLA N Yogish Bhat, Corporation Bank general manager Mohan Rao, KMC professors Dr C V Raghuveer and Dr Prabha Adhikari, Bala Maruti Gymnasium president Vittal Bhat and Shakuntala of the women and child welfare department, participated as guests.
'Sevabharati' trustee, Dr U V Shenoy, welcomed and delivered introductory address. Trustees P Vinod Shenoy, Savitri Nayak, Pravin Kumar and Dr Sabita were present.
Sumati Shenoy presented the programme. Dr G N Bhat proposed vote of thanks. On this occasion, a blood donation camp was organized under the aegis of the Dakshina Kannada district BJP Yuva Morcha, Sevanjali Charitable Trust and Sevabharati.
