Bangalore, Oct 3: Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF) chairman, G Somashekhara Reddy, announced that the KMF will be contributing one crore rupees to the Chief Minister's Relief Fund for providing assistance to the flood-affected people of the state. He made this announcement, after the Chief Minister was conferred with the title, 'Ksheerabandhu' at the state-level convention of the milk producers, organized by KMF at Dabaspet near Nelamangala in the district on Friday October 2.
"Yeddyurappa has been leading the state on the path of righteousness and justice. He has been putting efforts for the all-round progress of the state. He has lot of concern for the farmers. Because of these qualities, he is being honoured with the 'Ksheerabandhu' title by KMF and the milk producers of the state," Reddy added.
Speaking after accepting the title and felicitation, Yeddyurappa said that necessary steps are being taken to manage the situation created by heavy rains in the state, in consultation with officials, policemen and the military. "My mind is at the regions affected by the heavy rains. But, bending before the wishes of the milk producers of the state, I agreed to be present at this function," he said.
Over 1,50,000 milk producers and members of milk societies congregated at the convention. Before the beginning of the programme, the convention paid respects to the people, who lost their lives during this week, due to heavy rains in the state.
