Mangalore, Sep 25: First year MBA and MCA classes of St Joseph Engineering College (SJEC), Vamanjoor, here were inaugurated on Friday September 25.
Lt Col John N Serrao, administrator of Ex-servicemen’s Polyclinic, Jeppu in the city, was the chief guest of the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Lt Col John advised the students to inculcate leadership skills, along with owning a sense of responsibility and drive to achieve academic excellence. He further urged the students to develop positive attitude towards accomplishing their goals.
Dr Joseph Gonsalves, principal of SJEC, gave inputs to the students, in terms of entrepreneurship and motivation. He also added that the top priority of the college is to impart knowledge to the students by conducting classes regularly.
Fr Valerian D'Souza, SJEC director, in his presidential address, spoke about the motto of Vishvesvaraya Technological University that places stress first of all, on embodying human virtues. Meanwhile, he appealed to the students to work hard and achieve excellence in their life.
The students, who were the toppers in PGCET, MAT and KMAT entrance tests, were also felicitated on this occasion.
SJEC assistant director, Fr Henry Mascarenhas, and the dean of planning and development, Prof Eric Patrao, were present on the dais.
The programme was attended by the heads of various departments, staff and first year students of MBA and MCA, along with their parents.
Prof Damien D’Mello proposed vote of thanks. Laveena Maria Sequeira, senior lecturer of the department of business sdministration, compered the programme.
