Noisy scene in Assembly, Speaker disallows adjournment motion on Mahadayi

Porvorim, Jan 7: As the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly, Rajesh Patnekar disallowed the adjournment motion on the Mahadayi issue, the opposition created a noisy scene in the House.

The opposition benches led by Leader of the Opposition, Digamber Kamat and Goa Forward Party chief, Vijai Sardesai created a noisy scene after the motion was disallowed.

The speaker in his ruling said, “The adjournment motion should be on a single specific matter. The members can raise the issue and discuss on various parliamentary
devices.”

“The motion on the subject matter, that is central government ministry, the notice should.. matter is urgent only if it is a very recent occurrence, matter is not urgent.

This is a special session being called for central government’s amendment, disallow the notice of adjournment motion.”
