Mumbai, Jan 3: A caretaker of a private educational institution was arrested along with few others for fabricating documents and forging signatures to siphon property worth Rs 3.5 crore.
The accused identified as Ashok Kumar Singh (52) was appointed as the caretaker of an underprivileged school. The Economic Offences Wing seized all the documents and has taken Singh into custody and is in search of his accomplices. The property is owned by Johnson Iruddhaya who set up Bhandup Village Citizen Education Society registered with charity commissioner. Iruddhaya also opened Mary John School which he left under the care of Singh once he shifted to Chennai.
Following a complaint, the police officers noted that through forgery Singh had made himself the trustee of both Bhandup Village Citizen Society and Mary John English School. The officials claim to have caught Singh red-handed as the documents were retrieved from his house during a search.
