Margao, Dec 27: Elaborate arrangements for crowd management are made by South Goa police during New Year celebrations. As crowds of revellers throng South Goa beaches on December 31 night till early morning on January 1, it is challenging for police personnel to manage the crowd in between increasing density of traffic.

Arvind Gawas, SP, South Goa has said that 700 policemen will be deployed during the celebrations. They will be supported by 6 platoons of Indian Reserve battalion, 25 vans of PCR and 15 motorcycles as part of patrolling duties.

Those on the field will include seventeen police inspectors, four sub divisional police officers and the SP.

Palolem, Colva, Benaulim and Bogmalo beaches are identified by South Goa police as trouble spots to control crowd and manage traffic. “Parking arrangements will be made separately at the four beaches,” said SP Gawas.
