Mumbai, Dec 27: On a case of molestation against a 17-year-old girl at a birthday party in June, an FIR was filed against the deputy inspector general (DIG) of Maharastra police.
"We have registered an FIR against the DIG under the Protection of Children against Sexual Offences (POSCO) Act for molesting the 17-year-old girl," a senior police officer stated in a TOI report on Thursday.
The police officer also asserted that the FIR was filed after verifying the eyewitness accounts. He maintained that a video of the birthday party solidified the victim's claims.
On Monday, several members of her community, including actor Dolly Bindra came in support of the victim's family and demanded an FIR against the DIG.
As per the father, the DIG asked for alcohol at the party and touched his daughter's cheek and chest. The father claimed that his daughter was 'very disturbed and depressed' after the incident.
