Mangalore, Sep 14: A free health camp was held at God the Holy Spirit Church, Bajal, here on Sunday September 13 by Fr Muller Medical College Hospital (FMMCH) in association with the Catholic Sabha unit of Bajal parish.
Bajal parish priest Fr Antony Lewis inaugurated the programme.
Former city corporator and social worker Vishwanath was the chief guest.
Dr Edward Nazareth, head of department of orthopaedics, Fr Muller Medical College (FMMC), spoke on the occasion and explained the concession in treatment costs for the camp’s patients at FMMCH.
Mangalore Pradesh Catholic Sabha president Tony Pinto and Catholic Sabha parish unit president Praveen D’Souza, were present on the occasion.
Faculty and residents from different specialties of FMMCH examined the patients and free medicines were distributed. Around 200 people from the locality attended the camp. Needy patients will get follow-up treatment at minimal cost at FMMCH.
FMMCH has been organizing several such outreach programmes in different parts of undivided Dakshina Kannada and other neighbouring districts where poor and marginalized people get health care benefits. Many of these patients get free treatment in the general wards of the hospital.
