Goa man gets five years jail for culpable homicide

Colva, Dec 23: Francisco Fernandes from Dramapur in Navelim was sentenced to five years in jail and ordered to pay Rs 25,000 fine by the principal sessions judge BP Deshpande. Fernandes was held guilty for the death of Listern Colaco in 2018.
 
The accused was charged with fatally stabbing Colaco (26) following a fight. Reportedly on March 27, 2018, Fernandes approached Colaco while he was with his friends and got into a verbal spat.
 
 
The prosecution stated in the court that Fernandes was motivated to murder after getting into a verbal duel with Colaco. Although the accused was charged under Section 302 (murder), he was convicted under Section 304 (2) (culpable homicide not amounting to murder).
